The Storage Competitor Self Storage Park Construction Project

USC in England: Networking Dinner and Movers & Storers Show

Maarten and Jan-Hein Streppel had planned many activities in England recently. After crossing the Channel by ferry, they visited customers, joined the SSA UK Networking Dinner in London and exhibited USC for the first time at the Movers & Storers Show in Warwickshire. A report.

Competition

It is crucial to know what is already being offered on the self storage market. The report should include an analysis of the existing locations. Think of numbers of square meters, how long the locations have been around, unit sizes, rates, striking features, occupancy rates, etc. It is also good to know whether there are other projects under construction and whether there are developments that are still in the planning phase.

The Movers & Storers Show in England

This year, Jan-Hein and Maarten along with colleague Leo Young attended for the first time with a demo container at this show held annually in November in Warwickshire, in the West Midlands. “A beautiful, central location no more than 1.5 hours away from major cities such as Coventry, Birmingham and Leicester,” Martin said.

Self storage movers

Jan-Hein: “This show was a step out of the self-storage comfort zone for us. The show was recommended to us because moving companies in England traditionally have a lot of affinity with self storage. They find it a nice change from regular moving work. If they also want to be successful within the storage business, self storage is a very logical choice for them. That’s a big difference from the Dutch situation, for example, because the moving industry here is often still somewhat hesitant when it comes to self storage.”

Curious

Interest in the USC demo container was compelling. People were also curious. “Many parties did not yet know USC, we are not yet an established name within the UK moving world. Many visitors commented that they had not seen such a beautiful storage container before, and we thought that was a nice compliment,” said Jan-Hein.
On the projector in the demo container, visitors could watch the company video. This allowed one to view the container, including the various compartments, in one go, which immediately gave a good impression of how flexible our containers can be used for a self-storage location.

Much interest

“There have been dozens of parties who have shown concrete interest in our storage container, says Jan-Hein, and Maarten adds: “The public in central England is also different, a bit more relaxed; a nice mix of accessibility and down-to-earthness. Because just about every village has container storage, people feel connected to the self-storage phenomenon. And the concept has long since proved itself abundantly clear there.”
As for us, we will definitely return to this show next year.
