Introducing the next generation of self-storage containers
Continuous improvement is essential for any business that aims to grow. At Universal Storage Containers, we engage in frequent dialogue with our customers. Over the years, these conversations have provided us with a clear understanding of what works, what can be improved, and what operators truly need in practice. So, we got to work. This is the result.
The updated design of the modular storage container introduces six concrete improvements to a product that has long been a trusted standard in self-storage facilities throughout Europe. The roof is now corrugated for extra strength, and the walls have been thickened along their entire length. Simple upgrades that make a significant difference in lifespan and weather resistance. Ventilation has also been improved: an often underestimated detail that contributes significantly to the condition of stored goods over the long term.
On the operational side, forklift pockets with removable covers have been added to all sides of the unit — making handling during installation much easier. The universal stacking brackets are designed to be compatible with our previous container generation, allowing new and old units to be combined without issue. This ensures existing investments are preserved as sites continue to expand. Furthermore, the internal partition walls have been reinforced and made considerably more robust.

Tested on the conference floor
The updated container was presented at the end of April at the Self Storage Association UK (SSAUK) Conference in England. Interest from operators and industry professionals was high. The feedback was encouraging: not only regarding the aesthetics but especially concerning the practical thinking behind the improvements.
